Question: Auto Insurance Question?

When getting an insurance policy, what should I be looking for to get the best coverage? For example: Liability Limit – How much – 1 million or 2 million? Collision Coverage – How much deductible? Comprehensive Coverage – How much deductible? I’m just getting quotes on-line and filling in these categories, maybe you can all explain what they mean and what is the best coverage.Thx!

Answer: Liability Limit – How much – 1 million or 2 million?

The minimum in most states is between $25K to $50K . It is up to you what you want your limit to be. Keep in mind that if you have a $50k limit and you do $400k damage your financial situation won’t be too healthy for it!

Collision Coverage – How much deductible?
The higher the deductible, the cheaper the premium. Are you a good driver who just know you are NOT going to claim? Get a high deductible.

Comprehensive Coverage – How much deductible?
Same for the above. I am so unlikely to claim that I don’t even buy comprehensive but what about you? This coverage will in some cases triple your premium cost.

Often one such agent will cut into their own profit margin to give you a discount and you will be able to grill them on each point you aren’t sure about.
You can easily get their phone number and best price and phone them back if they are the best price.
The end result EG: who you’ll end up getting insured with won’t change. Maybe Geico, maybe somebody else but be assured that the price might be up to 35% cheaper when you are bypassing people like mbrcatz.
