Rx Deductible

Rx Deductible

Question: Health Insurance Help Please! (affordable and repetitively useable plan for 50 yr old male)?

I was just researching health insurance plan for my dad who is 50 yr old atm. I just wanted some suggestions about where and what i should look for.
What we need:
- an individual plan for him that costs about $150-200 a month ( i dont think a decent plan can go cheaper)
- somewhat of an extensive coverage ( he has the usual things like bp and etc, so we need something with a Low Deductible or none for physician and specialist visits, a reasonable copay aswell)
- good drug coverage, ya he has a few pills to take.
soo..basically im asking what i should look for as in the kind of Rx coverage, contracts, deductible and copay plans.
any pointers will help thx.

Answer: YOu are not the only one who met this problem,I have met this type of problem before.I have good experience here    www.HealthInsuranceIdeas.info    to solve my similiar problem.

Kaiser Deductible Plans

Kaiser Deductible Plans

Question: What health insurance plan should I buy?

Hi I’m currently looking for a health insurance. I live in southern California. I’m a 27 year old female, 30 lbs overweight, no known medical condition, looking for something to cover mainly major or serious medical problems.

Dont know whats better Kaiser Permanente or Blue Shield Blue Cross?

Should I look for a high deductible plan or a copayment plan, PPO or HMO? Really confused!!!!!!

Answer: Kaiser is going to limit you care to their doctors and when you are out of the area, on vacation for example you can only get emergency care. You will have a primary care provider which acts as a gatekeeper and you need to see them before you can see a specialist.

With Blue Cross they offer an PPO which is a network of doctors you can choose from and you can go straight to a specialist if you feel you need one.
Some people hate the HMO gatekeeper others don’t mind at all it is really personal preference.

You need to figure the cost of the plan two ways. First what will the plan cost if you have no medical bills for the year. What is your total premium for one year?

Then what will the plan cost if you have a serious illness or bad accident. I usually figure $50,000 in medical bills for this scenario. For this you need to add the total premium + deductibles + coinsurance.

Now you can compare the plans to see which one is truly the best deal, you will usually find the high deductible plans work best in either scenario. Then consider a Health Savings Account qualified plan, this can create additional tax savings.

Or you can just call a qualified broker who has probably already done this work.

With all the different health carriers and plans available most people really should use a health insurance broker. A Broker represents multiple carriers and can help you sort through all the different insurance companies and plan options in your state.

For example a typical broker can have access to 10 major carriers and 60 different plans just for one state.
You can try doing your own research on the internet, but if you give a good broker 5 minutes they will be able to make suggestions on which carrier may fit you best.

I suggest using yellowpages.com to search for health insurance brokers in your area.

Don’t call your auto and home agent they specialize in property and causality insurance. You need someone that specializes in health insurance.

Good Luck

High Deductible Plan

High Deductible Plan

Question: What is the point of a health insurance plan if you never met your deductible?

I am 22 and applying for my first health insurance. I do not need much medical services, and want a low affordable premium. However, when I look at sites such as Blue Cross, it seems that low premiums go with high deductibles. I don’t think I would ever meet the yearly deductible, and thus, cannot get any health services covered. So what is the point of such a plan? Thanks.

Answer: That’s a fair question and, to be honest, shows how “differently” people consider health insurance from, say auto or fire insurance. Here’s the question for you to consider:

Do you want health “insurance,” or “health care financing?”

“Insurance” helps you pay for unforeseen expenses that you can’t handle yourself (like, say, that $87,000 hospital/surgical bill after the car wreck, etc.). “Health care financing,” like anything else you usually finance, lets you “make payments” to buy things that you don’t want to pay for all at once (like, say, that $2300 big screen HDTV).

Here’s a few tips:
1. Buy a plan with a big deductible ($2,500 – 5,000) to keep your cost down. REMEMBER: even with a big deductible you can still find plans with the things you like: doctor and drug copays.
2. Stick with the “brand name” companies, like Blue Cross, Humana, Aetna, etc. There are a lot of other plans that “look good” but, if or when you have that big claim, they’ll vanish like an honest politician.
3. Talk to a broker who specializes. Visit NAHU.org (see below) to find one near you. NAHU is the professional association of brokers like me who specialize in health insurance.
4. Get you own quotes online. Visit my site (below) or go to Norvax.com to get prices.

Hope this helps a bit!

Question: HOW AND WHEN DO YOU PAY A HEALTH INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLE?

I KNOW HOW COPAYS, COINSURANCES AND DEDUCTIBLES WORK BUT WHAT IM NOT UNDERSTANDING IS HOW AND WHERE AND WHEN DO U PAY FOR A DEDUCTIBLE?? DO U PAY THE INSURANCE COMPANY INDIVIDUALLY OR DO U PAY THE DOCTORS OFFIVE OR CAN YOU GO TO A PLACE TO PAY IT?? IM CONFUSED… HELP!!

Answer: You pay the doctors or hospital, the full amount, until you’ve paid the deductible. You ALSO send the bills to the insurance company, so they can see that you’ve paid it.

The insurance doesn’t start paying any bills, until you’ve submitted enough covered charges to hit the Deductible Amount.
