Question: renting house queries?

My partner and i are thinking of renting a house in about 6 months time. We live in a flat which i rent from my mother for £50 a week including bills apart from food which means we have all furniture. Our combined wage is £1546 a month but i have applied for a trainee position which reduces our combind wages to £1280 a month (not including a part time weekend job i hope to get which would be an extra £100 a month). The houses that we’ve looked at in our area are around £450-£550pcm. We are aware that we’d have to pay council tax, tv licence and bills. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how much it costs them to rent their house including bills/council tax/tv licence, without deductions or benefits. I want to go into this with my feet firmly on the ground. Thanks

Answer: I may not be much help, but Iove to talk to Brits. In the US, a good formula is to not pay more than 25-30% of your net monthly income for rent or house payment, not including utilities, phone, renters insurance, etc. I have no idea what the other expenses you mentioned are, but maybe that will help a little. My paternal grandmother immigrated from around Birmingham and I think that may be in your area. Her maiden name was Gregory and her father was a jockey in the Queen’s stables. Unless orphans are photographed and paraded in front of television cameras, it is virtually impossible to get assistance for them these days. Granted, donors are weary of misuse of donated funds, but shouldn’t that be left for God to settle the scores with such robbers. Even when donors don’t care that much about Tax Deductions (yes, there are some who can afford to part with a ten-dollar bill without the need for a receipt), they still want visual proof of where their money is going. Some would be shocked to discover where their money actually ended up inspite of the publicity. How about asking the Spirit of God to guide them rather than story seeking cameras? Can the world get back to giving from the prompting of their hearts (where the Spirit lives) and seek less glory and publicity from external forces?

Answer: I believe if a person gives it should be anonomously, as we are instructed by Jesus Christ to do.

I run a non profit childrens charity. I’m a full time volunteer with no other income. I need to be at a conference in San Francisco this coming week. I had a place to stay but if fell through.
