Answer: If the magazine subscription is related to taxes, you can deduct it on sch. A. Subject to 2% of AGI.

If you are self employed, and the subscription is related to you trade or business you can deduct it on schedule C.

Question: How much does it typically cost to rent a place to get married and have a reception?

I found a really fabulous historic home that had a great garden for my wedding and reception. However, the fee seems outrageous and I was wondering what is considered typical. I know it depends on the place, etc. etc. etc. but what is average???
This places wants $18,000 (12,000 is tax deductible) so it would mean $6,000. You get the place all day (11am-11:30pm) though and it is very very lovely. But I am worried about other fees that will be tacked on to the already seemingly high price.

Answer: you can find something cheaper. I’m sure that place is perfect but your entire wedding shouldn’t cost $18,000. Unless you have it to spend I say keep looking.

Question: Buying a Laptop for College: Can i write it off? tax-deductible?

I’m buying a laptop for college and I was wondering if I could write it off on my taxes or if it was any way tax-deductible? Even if only the sales tax (NY State 9%) is deductible, it would still save me about $100.

Anything I can work with?

Answer: Nope. Sorry.

There are certain breaks for tuition and some required school fees but items you purchase for school such as a laptop or school supplies are Not Tax Deductible.

Question: Australian Government 50% childcare tax rebate?

I am unsure how this rebate is applied. If my 2007/2008 out of pocket childcare expenses were $6000, will I receive a lump sum of $3000? Or is this a tax deductible item i.e. do I claim it as I would uniforms? Any help would be appreciated.

Answer: The Child Care out pocket that you incurred from 2007 year onwards has been taken out of the Taxation system – and put back into the Family Assistance Office. So you no longer mention it in your tax return.
