Question: Insurance question: Deductible VS. Maximum out of Pocket Limit?
My info: Benefit Period is January 1 – December 31 each year.
I have a $250 individual max. deductible and a $500 max. Family Deductible. I have maxed out my deductible of $250 and my daughter has used about $12 of her deductible ($262 of the family deductible has been used). My maximum out of pocket limit (per individual) is $1500.If I’ve met my $250 max. individual deductible then where does the max. out of pocket limit come in? I’m not sure what the difference is on the two. I’m pregnant with my 2nd child now and am wondering what costs I should expect based on my insurance coverage.
Answer: You’re missing a number from somewhere….
You pay 100%, of the first $250.00 dollars. (your individual deductible.) Once that’s met, your health insurance starts paying a percentage. Whatever percentage is left over, you have to pay… The percentage you have to pay adds up throughout the year to meet your ‘out of pocket’ limit. make sense?
