Question: Got rear-ended by uninsured driver. Do I benefit from putting in a claim to my insurance? Deductible is 500?

My deductible is 500. the paint job will cost about 300. Should I even file claim? This doesn’t sound fair at all that I have to pay for damages. I will try to get the uninsured motorist to pay for my work, but what leverage do i have?
This is what my insurance says. I do have collision coverage with a $500 Deductible. does this mean they will pay up to $500 of damages? or they pay anything over $500?

Uninsured/Underinsured

This coverage pays for property damage to your car if it is damaged in a car accident caused by an uninsured driver. If you have Collision Coverage, this coverage pays damages up to the amount of your Collision Coverage Deductible. If you do not have Collision Coverage, this coverage pays damages up to $3,500.

Answer: This is how I interpret what you posted, but you should check with your agent/insurance company.

You have Collision coverage with a $500 deductible. You live in a state that has or requires Uninsured Property Damage coverge(UMPD).

If you did not have Collision coverage then your UMPD coverage would cover you up to $3500.

Since you have Collision coverage, your UMPD coverage pays your Collision deductible, and your Collision coverage picks up the rest.

Contact your insurance company and file a claim. They will go after the uninsured driver to recover what they paid out.

My graduate school’s health insurance coverage ends after this month, as I will have officially graduated from the program, however, I am not yet employed (I need to study for and pass a national certification exam first). The dental insurance is the most important right now, but I am also in the market for health and vision as well. If there is a way that I can get all 3 for $150 or less a month, that would be great!

Answer: Unless you have very high volumes of rebar, ignore the volume in calculating the quantity of concrete to order. Formwork tolerances etc. also have an effect.

If you know the weight of rebar just divide by the density (7850kg/m3) to obtain the volume.
