Question: How do Medicare Advantage Plans pay for hospital stays?

Does a person need to worry about residual charges from a hospital when you have a Medicare Advantage Plan (such as other charges besides the co-pay, deductible and/or coinsurance — is the hospital allowed to demand anything else?)

Answer: If the hospital is participating in your plan, they can only bill you for the co-pay, deductible, and coinsurance.

Also, you could be billed for any non-covered/excluded charges. (If you were notified in advance that the service you were having was something that Medicare doesn’t cover.)
