Question: Tax deduction in usa?
HELLO TO EVERY ONE,
I AM ALI,I AM WORKING IN USA IN MACDONALD’S.MY WAGE IS
7.5$ PER HOUR.And i get 500$ check at the end of weak.But due to deduction of taxes i will get only 387$.can some one please tell me that these taxes can i get at the end of year or not.Also why they deduct taxes from over salary.

Answer: Hello Ali–
There are three or four different taxes being deducted from your paycheck. Social security and medicare taxes go to fund the national retirement system. Everybody pays them. Sorry.
Some of your federal income tax withholding may or may not be returned to you. You need to file an income tax return and calculate the total income you received during 2008. If you are single, you subtract about $9,000 from your income. If you are married, you subtract about twice that. Then, the tax will be about 10 – 15% of what’s left. You’ll compare the amount of your tax to the amount that’s already been taken from your paycheck for federal income taxes. If they withheld too much, the IRS will send you some back. If they’ve withheld too little, you’ll have to pay the IRS.
Most States also have a State income tax, and the calculations work about the same–except the tax rate is lower.
If you wait until after February 1st, you can take your forms to a VITA/TaxAide site and they’ll help you fill them out for free.
