Question: How do I know when my deductible for prescription coverage has been met?
I have BCBS health insurance. After the $100 deductible is met it is then 50/50. I know I have already exceeded the deductible so how does this all work out? Does my insurance already know through the pharmacy? Or do I have to send in a receipt?
Answer: Oh you can believe that insurance company knows exactly what is going on. You can go to your pharmacy and ask for a print out for insurance purposes and give them the dates that you are interested in. Like Jan 1, 2009 to present. That should help you calculate your amounts.
As to how your particular policy works, you have to either look at your policy….either a printed copy you may have or perhaps online, or call the ever friendly toll-free number and ask. I would already have my figures in front of me before I called tho. Different policies work different ways.
